Great work. Kris explained what he would do clearly and provided a competitive quote for the eork. He was able to start quickly and work days that accommodated my schedule and needs. I love the finished result and he explained how to care for it. Great workmanship - would hire him again.

Fitted Wardrobes | Find Bedroom Furniture Fitters & Suppliers Near You

A fitted bedroom specialist can craft the perfect bedroom. They’ll install furniture, or build something bespoke – suggesting design concepts or working to an existing idea. They’ll also ensure a clever use of storage to help reduce clutter.

What does fitting wardrobes involve?

There are a couple of good reasons to opt for fitted wardrobes. Firstly, they give you complete control over the style and function of your storage (where doors open, trays slide out, mirrors are positioned, etc). Secondly, they help maximise the storage space available within a bedroom, making the most of difficult spaces – such as angled ceilings. You can achieve all this, while complimenting the existing design and layout.

Another option is to find a supplier who will create bespoke wardrobe kits to any set of measurements, leaving you to build the wardrobes. Whilst this takes care of the sizing of the panels required, the build of these kits is still a significant, time-consuming job.

Which tradesperson do I need?

A joiner or carpenter will be able to build and assemble fitted wardrobes, as well as other bedroom storage.

Things to consider for fitted wardrobes

  • The depth and height, how you open them, and where the door to the room is. You don’t want to obstruct access to the room, or around the edge of your bed, as you’ll have to live with that every day. Your tradesperson will take accurate measurements before discussing options with you.
  • What you want on show and what you don’t. For example, you might want some display shelving as part of your bedroom storage.
  • If you’re planning on internal storage inside the wardrobes, think about what you’re using the storage for e.g. the space needed beneath a clothes rail, shoes racks, etc.
  • If you’re starting from scratch, it’s likely your fitted bedroom specialist has recommended a design or theme for the whole bedroom. The finish of your fitted wardrobes will then be designed to match. If not, and you have existing furniture, there are a wide variety of finishes available to match existing styles and designs – Including glass, wood, mirrored panels and doors.

Costs for fitted wardrobes

Costs will obviously vary depending on how much bespoke work is required – the bigger the space, the more material will be needed. Asking a carpenter or joiner to make everything in one go will often save you money but as fully fitted wardrobes (plus, other bedroom storage) can cost upwards of £5,000, many people choose to add storage as and when they can afford it.

Solid wood storage will often provide the best results for both style and durability. One compromise is to use materials such as MDF (medium-density fibre board) and OSB (oriented strand board) for the internal parts of your wardrobes, although wardrobes built entirely from solid wood will wear better and last longer.

Insurance for fitted wardrobe specialists

While it isn’t a legal requirement, it’s a good idea for your fitted wardrobe specialist to have public liability insurance to protect against any personal injury or property damage claims.

I am a tradesperson who works in the middle of the ocean. Testing the submit to make sure that it works as expected with auth header removed. This should save and display in a very nice way. This should edit still work as normal, hopefully I will still see the old.

Dave delivered to time and budget and performed an excellent job. I liked his design approach and he fitted in a couple of additional small tasks within the overall price. He also provided a painter and recommended a plasterer. Great job.
